Wine Review Archive - Italy, Tuscany - White

Cabreo 1998 Chardonnay Toscana La Pietra ($17). Well made, with intense tropical and citrus fruits, picking up an appealing, clean oak note on the finish. Drink now. (Party Planning, 02/01)

Castello Banfi 1997 Chardonnay Sant'Antimo Fontanelle ($19). This is a  nutty and full bodied wine, with spicy apple, pear, and hazelnut notes and a nicely balanced oak finish. (Wine Skinny Cooks, 10/00)

Castello di Gabbiano 2003 Pinot Grigio Venezie ($10). Pretty, apple fresh nose leads to crisp citrus and apple flavors. Light-bodied and easy to gulp! Ready to drink now. (Italian Connection, 08/04)

Coltibuono 2006 Toscana White Trappoline ($12) was a tasty little thirst quencher at happy hour. A blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, it offers some ripe apple and medium-bodied character that is brightened and lightened with citrus and mineral notes. 1998 Chardonnay Toscana Berardenga i Sistri ($28). Full-bodied and beautiful, this Chardonnay offers bold tropical fruit and waves of honey and butterscotch. Frescobaldi 2001 Pomino Tenuta di Pomino Benefizio ($27). Lush, enchanting bouquet includes jasmine and lemon curd and fresh orchard fruit.
