Alamosa Wine Cellar’s 1998 Fumé Blanc Texas ($9.99). This is a clean, refreshing, and citrusy wine and is every bit as good as a fumé blanc should be. The slight sweetness of this wine can be attributed to the unique blend of 96% Sauvignon and 4% Viognier. And, priced at around $10, this Texas wine can definitely play ball with its California brethren. (Texas Wine Pick, 12/99) Locate this wine online or in your area.
Fall Creek 1997 Sauvignon Blanc Texas ($8). Full of orchard fruits, especially pears and peaches, this Sauvignon Blanc is crisp and refreshing. Turning just slightly sweet on the finish, it would be great with foods with a little spicy kick. This wine is also the Skinny’s Texas wine pick for this issue.
