Messina Hof 1997 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ($17). This Bordeaux blend is 75% Cabernet and 25% Merlot, and 100% yummy! Rich, full-bodied, and elegant, with a generous helping of toasty oak, this is an impressive wine. Cherry and plum flavors are very nicely balanced by rich dark chocolate and a minty edge. Clean finish. Will stand up very well to even the heartiest of foods – think pepper-crusted steaks, barbecue, venison stew. Drinking very nicely now, and should age beautifully for years to come.
