Alvaro Palacios 1998 Priorat ($24). A Garnacha blend, this wine features round plum and blackberry fruit, with an appealing herb note that carries through to the tantalizing finish. My favorite of the day. Ready to drink now and over the next four or five years. (Weekend Wine, 07/01)

Cellers Fuentes 2004 Priorat Finca El Puig ($38). A lovely balance of power and grace, offering ripe strawberry and cherry aromas and flavors layered with mineral, toast, leather, licorice, and dried lavender, with bright, mouthwatering fruit reemerging on the persistent finish. Ready to drink now and over the next 3-4 years. Locate this wine online or in your area. (2011-06-30)
