Bodegas Pinord 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Penedes Chateldon Reserva ($N/A) — Juicy and enjoyable, this Spanish Cab shows bright red cherry along with spicy oak accents. Versatile and well-priced (should be under $15). (Weekend Wine, 11/00)
Torres 1997 Sangre de Toro Estate Bottled ($7). This wine’s label describes the wine as “an eminently drinkable, casual wine.” I wholeheartedly agree. Este vino es muy delicioso! This oak-aged, medium-bodied Mediterranean wine made from Garnacha and Cariñena is subtly replete with cherry, blackberry, pepper and spice, and everything nice. Perfecto with pizza, burgers, barbeque, Mexican food, and just about anything else you want to throw on the table. I’ve enjoyed a bottle of this wine with Spanish tapas on more than one occasion. Uh-oh. I’m getting all misty-eyed again. (ETFOFW, 02/00)
