Messina Hof 1997 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

This Bordeaux blend is 75% Cabernet and 25% Merlot, and 100% yummy! Rich, full-bodied, and elegant, with a generous helping of toasty oak, this is an impressive wine. Cherry and plum flavors are very nicely balanced by rich dark chocolate and a minty edge. Clean finish. Will stand up very well to even the heartiest of foods – think pepper-crusted steaks, barbecue, venison stew. Drinking very nicely now, and should age beautifully for years to come.

The facts:

  • American Oak aged for 24 months

  • 500 cases produced

  • Suggested retail price $17

Background: Messina Hof Wine Cellars was officially established when they released their first vintage in 1983. However, the rich wine heritage of Winemaker Paul Bonarrigo dates back six generations to Messina, Sicily.
