Restaurant Review - Joe's Stone Crab, Miami

Another long-time Miami scene, Joe’s Stone Crab is in a league of its own in a town replete with fresh seafood. The buzz is as loud as ever, as is the wait list to get in this no-reservations-accepted spot.

The menu itself is not necessarily as surprising or inventive as it is reliable and top quality. Stone crab claws are the point here, though there are other choices in the way of fish and steaks. To our way of thinking, you skip the starters and load up on stone crab claws. Many as you can afford. Joe’s mustard sauce and bottles of sparkling wine or Chardonnay are all the accompaniments we need for a heavenly meal at Joe’s.

If you absolutely require more variety, check out any of the delicious side dishes. Lusciously rich creamed spinach, very good coleslaw and perfectly crispy hash browns are famously good. Those with a sweet tooth shouldn’t miss the tart creamy Key lime pie. (june 2003)
