Recently, I saw an advertisement
notifying users of certain diet drugs
that they may have a claim for damages
in a class action lawsuit. This, in the
midst of a news report on the alarming
number of deaths occurring as result of
botched liposuctions. Perhaps more alarming
than the number of deaths, was the number
of liposuctions being performed in the
United States every year. Since the last
issue of the Wine Skinny, when we discussed
the current low carb/high protein diet
craze, I've now read and watched multiple
reports on the drawbacks of the low card/high
protein diets. But, surely we all saw
that coming. It was only a matter of time.
Some of us still have beautiful jars of
pasta (so low fat!) sitting in our kitchen.
Poor fusilli. Reduced to mere decoration.
My twisted Italian wonders, I remember
when you were guilt free eating.
Now it's bacon and eggs
-- and while you're at it fry them in
butter -- and the weight will just fall
off. So, we toss our bags of fat free
potato chips and whip out the skillet.
What is wrong with this picture?
