Wine & Health:
Possible new insight on wine and heart health

It seems that we’ve all known for a while that a glass or two of wine can benefit heart health. The question has been, "Why?"

Researchers in Greece recently released findings that might shed some light on the matter. According to the study, one or two drinks a day may soothe inflamed arteries. Heart disease patients’ blood was analyzed, and the results showed that alcohol had a more benefit on those patients with the highest levels of CRP – a protein that builds up when heart arteries are inflamed. CRP levels seem to be the latest hot indicator of the likelihood of heart attacks, even more than LDL levels, the so-called "bad" cholesterol.

The study concluded with a recommendation for additional research on the link between alcohol, CRP, and heart attacks.
