Whether you’ve got a home-cooked version in the works or simply plan on picking up a ready-to-slice Easter ham, Pinot Noir makes a lovely red wine match. (Looking for a white? Try Riesling or Pinot Gris…) Here are a handful I’ve enjoyed lately:

Willamette Valley Vineyards 2008 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley Whole Cluster Fermented ($19). An array of pretty berry aromas and flavors — raspberry, blackberry, boysenberry — are laced with smoky baking spices and toast. Finishes bright and focused. Ready to drink now and over the next couple of years. Locate this wine online or in your area.

ForeFront 2008 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley ($24). Aromatic black raspberry and cherry fruit is accented with delicate herbal notes and toasted spices, finishing with racy acidity. Ready to drink now and over the next 2-3 years. Locate this wine online or in your area.

Gainey 2007 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills ($30.) Fresh and youthful, with fragrant, tangy blackberry and currant fruit accented with black tea, clove, cinnamon, orange rind and toasty oak notes that linger on the moderate finish. Ready to drink now and over the next couple of years. Locate this wine online or in your area.

Gainey 2007 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills Limited Selection ($48). Intense and rich, with ripe red berry, cherry and plum fruit layered with generous, aromatic baking spice notes, incense and smooth chocolate notes that linger on the full, ripe finish. Ready to drink now and over the next 2-3 years. Locate this wine online or in your area.
