Way Better than Green Beer
It’s nearly Halloween, and if you’re inclined to have holiday color coordinated beverages, here’s an appropriately orange-hued cocktail for this weekend. (Plus, it’s delish and supposed to be orange, which is way more than can be said for green beer on St. Patrick’s Day!)
Aperol is an aromatic Italian spirit that is infused with herbs, orange peel, bitter and mandarin orange, spices and more. It definitely has a “bitters” feel to it — if you’re someone who likes Campari or Vermouth, this will be right up your alley. And it’s the Aperol that gives this cocktail its deep orange glow:
Aperol Citrus Martini
3/4 oz. Aperol
1 1/2 oz. premium vodka
Juice of 1/2 fresh lemon
1/4 oz. simple syrup
Pour ingredients over ice into a shaker. Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
