Winery Spotlight: Magito
New from the Meadowcroft Family of Wines is the Magito label — winemaker Tom Meadowcroft’s middle tier of wines — offering high quality blends from vineyards in Napa, Sonoma and other California regions at affordable prices. These are fruity, “New World style” wines that are immediately approachable and easy to enjoy alone or with food.
I tried all three of the Magito wines a few weeks ago. I thought they were each tasty and particularly appreciated that they showed some restraint. Fruit forward, yes, but balanced. Here are my notes:
Magito 2006 Highlands Cabernet Blend Sonoma County ($18). Bright, with lifted, aromatic red berry, soft spices, and a juicy finish. Quite food friendly. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Merlot. Ready to drink now and over the next couple of years. Locate this wine online or in your area.
Magito 2005 Zinfandel California ($18). Liked it! Ripe, certainly, but not overly alcoholic or jammy. With dark cherry and berry flavors accented with toast and a touch of spice. This is my kind of burger wine. A blend of Zinfandel (75%), Syrah, Sangiovese, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Ready to drink now. Locate this wine online or in your area.
Magito 2006 Sauvignon Blanc North Coast ($16). Soft and pretty, with juicy melon and peach notes laced with moderate citrus character. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc (75%), Sauvignon Musque, Viognier and Verdelho. Ready to drink now. Locate this wine online or in your area.

Hi Robyn;
WOW! Thank you for all your great commentary and I am glad that you enjoyed then. I have been a vineyard manager and winemaker for 12 years now, and I am always glad to hear what people like in my wines. I try to be true to the place where the wines come from, and bring a great wine drinking experience…I am glad that they brought this for you.
Again, Thank you for your kind reviews.
Best regards,
Tom Meadowcroft, Winegrower
