ZAP is coming up this week! For those of you who don’t know, ZAP is a crazy fun event. It’s the most Zinfandel you’ll ever see in one room (and it’s one huge room at that) — with producers pouring and spirits soaring. I wish I could make it, but this happens to be one week that I’m NOT going to be in San Francisco…

But for those of you who are, here’s the skinny:

Just some of the details:

- Wednesday, January 28th features the Showcase of California Zinfandels at City College. This afternoon of seated tastings and panel discussions includes boutique Zin winemakers, a blending session, and a walkabout tasting.

- Thursday, January 29th is the Good Eats & Zinfandel Pairing, at Ft. Mason, featuring Zins paired with goodies from restaurants and other food purveyors, plus a silent auction benefiting ZAP’s Heritage Vineyard project.

- Friday, January 30th is the Evening with the Winemakers, an upscale dinner and tasting at the Westin St. Francis Hotel.

- Saturday, January 31st is the grand tasting, at Ft. Mason, where you can expect something like 300 wineries and 500 Zinfandels. It’s a great chance to explore the various styles that Zin offers these days — a good time is practically guaranteed!

- New this year: ZAP is partnering with Wine 2.0 (www.winetwo.com / www.winetwo.net) to offer the “Bloggers’ Lounge” at the January 31st tasting. Also check out the various ZAP social networking platforms: www.ZinWorld.org, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace.
