According to winery literature, “the Groth family never intended to produce anything but the finest Cabernet Sauvignon…”
That may be, but Groth winemaker Michael Weis has also managed to produce two very nice white wines. Both offer elegance at relatively affordable prices:
The Groth 2007 Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley ($19). Zesty citrus aromas introduce loads of fresh, racy fruit flavors that fold into a long finish. Stays fresh and clean, with melon, lime zest staying focused throughout. Offers some lush mouthfeel mid-palate. Ready to drink now. Locate this wine online or in your area.
The Groth 2006 Chardonnay Napa Valley ($28) is fresh, clean, bright and elegant. With lemon curd and green apple aromas and flavors that pick up touches of toast and cream as well as a slight flinty note on the appealing finish. Nice complexity here! Ready to drink now. Locate this wine online or in your area.
